La producció La nit de Sant Joan (Soirées de Barcelone), segon ballet del compositor Robert Gerhard (1896-1970), amb escenografia de Joan Junyer i argument de Ventura Gassol, va quedar inèdita el 1939 pels avatars de la Guerra Civil. L’obra s’havia creat fruit del furor per la dansa de principis de segle xx, amb el rerefons de la imatge europea d’una Espanya exòtica i de gran èxit que Manuel de Falla havia conquerit en aquest àmbit.
