Until December 12, 2020, you can process the request for authorization for auxiliary personnel who care for people in a situation of dependency. As of this date, to work as a dependency care assistant, it will be essential to have professional qualification, either through training, qualifications, certification or authorization.
People who as of December 31, 2017 can prove an experience of at least 3 years with a minimum of 2,000 hours worked in the last 12 years in any of the occupations of care assistant for people in a dependent situation, or, in case If they do not reach this minimum of experience, they have worked and have a minimum of 300 hours of training in the last 12 years related to the professional competences to be accredited, they can be exceptionally qualified in the corresponding job. This authorization is valid throughout the territory of the Spanish State.
Persons who do not meet the requirements established for exceptional authorization, but who have work experience as a dependency care assistant before December 31, 2017 and who commit, through a responsible declaration, to participate in the processes of evaluation and accreditation of professional skills acquired through work experience or non-formal training channels that are convened, or carry out the training linked to the corresponding certificates of professionalism or professional training titles, before December 31, 2022.
The exceptional and provisional qualification process for auxiliary personnel caring for people in a situation of dependency with work experience is aimed at auxiliary personnel of these specialties: gerontology, for the personal care of people with disabilities, home care assistant, worker Family member and personal assistant.
The administration responsible for this procedure is the Department of Social Affairs, Work and Families of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
