Toolkit for the development of community-based care initiatives

CARE. The research group, from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), has published a kit for the development of community care initiatives.

The initiative, which is part of the project “Community care initiatives in Barcelona” and has been developed by Joan Moyà, wants to become a practical tool to give visibility to care tasks and offer strategies to open spaces for problematization that generate debates and reflections around him.

The kit is aimed at projects and organizations interested in studying this topic in depth. It is designed to be developed in three phases, which can be three sessions or can be subdivided into more sessions depending on the availability of the group. The first two through dynamics that should allow to open discussions, and think about possible responses to recurring situations that may be present in the group, and a last phase that should serve to collect the elements that have been identified as problematic, and reflect together on the possible solutions that can be put into practice by the group.

It is made up of a central document and several other documents that are intended to be useful tools to complement its use. Here is the relationship:

  • Main document containing the kit itself.
  • Document “Kit cards” that contains the action cards that guide part of the activities, already included in the main document, but which are here arranged in a format that allows them to be printed more comfortably for use.
  • Document “The Test Kit” which is a testimony that collects the experience of having tested the kit from a specific community initiative, the Cohabitatge Senior Can 70 group in Barcelona, as well as some practical recommendations when making use of it.
