MercèDansa

Catalonia celebrates its popular dances during La Mercè with MercèDansa, a project launched by the Esbart Català de Dansaires in 1992. This year sees the celebration of significant anniversaries, with commemorative dances and new choreographies that will become the traditions of the future.

The day will begin in the morning in avinguda de la Catedral (11.00 h), where the groups of dancers invited to take part will be showcasing their dances full of colour and rhythm that tell ancient stories. The Cobla Sabadell, it accompanies the dancers, offering sardanas, traditional dances and concert music.

In the afternoon (5:00 p.m.), the fun will continue in plaça de Sant Jaume with the MercèDansa closing ceremony. As a culmination of the day, the Galop de la Mercè is held (6.30 p.m.), which invites the entire public of plaça de Sant Jaume to participate in the dances, alongside dancers who have participated in the MercèDansa
