The aim of these debates is to create a space for knowledge exchange between professionals from diverse disciplines, focusing on architecture, design, materials, and their on-site applications, with an emphasis on the potential of natural materials derived from earth and plant fibres.
Speakers will explore all aspects of building materials based on earth and plant fibres, including their production, life cycles, supply chains, and the advantages and challenges of using these materials in construction and renovation.
The session will feature Miquel Escobar, a technical architect in bio-construction with expertise in both new builds and renovations; Àngels Castellarnau, architect and co-founder of Edra Arquitectura km 0, internationally recognized for her work incorporating earth and natural materials; and Albert Puy, technical architect and co-founder of the construction company COECO cooperativa and the CRUA Prefabricated Large-Format Raw Earth Buildings project. The session will be moderated by Amanda Rivera Vidal, an architect specializing in earth construction, vice-president of ICOMOS-ISCEAH, and associate researcher for the TerraCyle project at EPSEB-UPC.
