The Barcelona Restaurant Awards recognise and promote initiatives by neighbourhood restaurants and local establishments in the city, highlighting the contribution to quality, proximity and sustainability of places that form part of Barcelona’s identity.

This year’s awards went to:

  • Award for gastronomic quality: Restaurant Bellafila (Ciutat Vella)
Cuisine with personality and its own style, good quality and loyal to strictly seasonal local produce. With a consolidated trajectory, this establishment is a role model in sophisticated, healthy and soulful cuisine.
  • Award for neighbourhood integration: La Esquinica (Nou Barris)
Over more than 50 years, L’Esquinica has become much more than a tapas bar, a place to meet and share, growing with the neighbourhood and its people. A symbol of welcome and a point of connection between residents and generations.
  • Award for sustainability: Restaurant Xavier Pellicer (l’Eixample)
For being a role model in sustainability and organic local produce. A project that combines transformation, investigation, commitment and gastronomic quality with a clear vocation for conscientious and healthy service.
  • Award for table service: Flash Flash (Sarrià – Sant Gervasi)
This award values organisation, coordination and excellence in customer service and went to an establishment that has been looking after every detail for over 55 years, maintaining the spirit of one of the city’s most iconic restaurants.
  • Award for Barcelona market restaurants: El Racó del Mercat (Mercat de Provençals – Sant Martí)
Known for its hearty breakfasts and its use of fresh seasonal produce, this is a neighbourhood role model for gastronomy. A great example of a market restaurant and meeting place for local people and visitors.

There were also two special recognitions: one to Los Caracoles (Ciutat Vella) as the second oldest restaurant in Barcelona, with 190 years of history. Founded by the Bofarull family and now headed by the fifth generation, this establishment continues to offer world-renowned traditional Catalan cuisine in the heart of the Gòtic neighbourhood, and the other to the founder of El Botafumeiro, Moncho Neira (Gràcia), for his iconic trajectory and the indelible gastronomic legacy he has left for Barcelona.
