The Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món's educational programmes are aimed at, and created for, all the museum's visitors. Using the museum's wealth of ethnological heritage from around the world as a starting point, and anthropology as a methodological tool, the various projects aim to foster the creative and analytical skills of children and young people, while also creating places for learning, exchange, reflection and critical dialogue.
The Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món offers the educational community a wide range of visits that feature ethnology and anthropology as tools for understanding and exploring the world, using comparison as a way of learning and fostering investigation through objects.
Groups of adults and university students
The museum's educational service also works on a variety of pluralistic programmes aimed at other social sectors, such as groups of adults and university students, with educational items linked to the central themes covered by the museum and its programmes.
At its Montcada and Parc Montjuïc centres, the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món offers visits and workshops for social organisations that work with people in vulnerable situations, through Apropa Cultura, a project that strives for social inclusion and transformation through culture.

Throughout the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years, the MUEC has worked with 6th-year primary school pupils from the Escola Ferran Sunyer on this research project, where the school and the museum share the same educational goal: designing a cross-cutting project where the students become active players in producing meaning and knowledge, based on the appropriation of heritage from their immediate surroundings.
Throughout the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years, the MUEC has carried out this project together with vocational-training students from the Escola Tècnico-Professional Xavier. The aim is to complete a cooperative project between organisations. Based on the real needs of the surrounding area, it has allowed students to experience and carry out civic-involvement actions, combined with learning processes using content and a methodology offered by the museum.
