What does the "feminist construction" of space mean?

We have revisited the architectural and cultural imaginary to make way for a new paradigm—one grounded in non-hierarchical models, care at the centre, and eco-social responsibility. With the Trencant Murs project, we gave form to the discomfort generated by the dominant heteropatriarchal imaginary within the construction professions. We made visible the metaphorical wall that stands in the way of collective care and began dismantling it through artistic production. Now, the moment has come to start building alternatives.

This workshop invites participants on a journey through key moments in the history of architecture, analysing housing, architectural, and urban planning models from a gender perspective. From this critical lens, we aim to collectively explore a central question: What defines—and what should define—the feminist construction of space?

Together, we will build a critical timeline of architectural history and reflect on the practices we want to carry forward into the future of the profession. Because while some design and build spaces, we are all inhabitants of them. This workshop is open to both professionals and anyone curious to reflect on how we wish to live in and transform the world.
