Agròpolis presents a new intercooperation repository so research centres and sustainable food organisations can join forces

The Repository is a living tool where sustainable food organisations and research centres can fill out a form to propose new forms of collaboration.

L’eina va ser presentada el passat 17 de setembre en una sessió en línia amb èxit de participació que va comptar amb intervencions de representants de centres de recerca i d’entitats de la xarxa Agròpolis.

The Research – Agròpolis Organisations Intercooperation Proposal Repository

The Repository has been founded with the goal of connecting economic, social and community projects and needs with university research. Different stakeholders’ needs and proposals can find each other through this tool with a user-friendly Excel format online (on demand).

A space within the Agròpolis website has been set aside to keep it alive. Access to the repository is exclusively for organisations and research centres that have filled out the form outlining their proposals or needs, which can be occasional or ongoing. The form has to be filled again with every new proposal.

Collaboration possibilities and experiences

At a panel discussion, Jofre Güell (UAB), Irina Moreno (UPC) and Amaranta Herrero (UB) presented different forms of collaboration between universities and organisations or companies, like SL (Service Learning), final bachelor’s or master’s degree projects, internships and industrial doctorates. Beyond the connections via students, they also spoke about collaborations via consortia, agreements or chairs, which are increasingly common and foster two-way knowledge transfer to forge long-term relationships.

In turn, representatives from three organisations in the Agròpolis network shared the benefits of their collaboration experience with research centres. Representing the Fundació Espigoladors, Berta Vidal told about their participation in research projects and European consortia and the opportunities they have provided in terms of funding, the ability to create networks and knowledge transfer.

In the local sphere, Alfons López from Espai Ambiental told about two cases of agreements with the UB to together come up with specialisation training on responsible consumption and ecosocial transitions. After that, Ignasi Riera highlighted Tarpuna’s collaboration with students in the allotment programme at the Vall d’Hebron Market, which helped them to optimise processes and boost the project’s social impact and outreach.

Both the research centres and the organisations stressed the advantages of stakeholders joining forces to launch projects related to sustainable food and continuing the research on this topic.
