New attendance success as Architecture Weeks 2025 concludes
Over 48,000 people took part in the 200 plus activities organised over seven weeks around the city’s ten districts, strengthening the link between architecture and the public. The exhibition of winning projects and finalists for the new trade fair site in Montjuïc is open to the public until 20 July, at the former head office of the Gustavo Gil publishing company.

The programme for Architecture Weeks included guided tours and routes, talks, workshops, debates, exhibitions, book presentations, awards ceremonies and more. Once again, the guided tours to discover the city through its buildings were very well-received. Similarly, the themed walks around different neighbourhoods such as Sant Gervasi, Barceloneta, Sants and Bellvitge also attracted plenty of interest, showing how architecture connected with history, social struggles and the gender perspective help us to understand our environment better.
Architecture Weeks also helped draw people’s attention to two large spaces in the city. Firstly, the Llars Mundet by Manuel Baldrich i Tibau, chosen by the Barcelona branch of the COAC as the central point for its Architecture Festival, and secondly, the iconic Collserola telecommunications tower, which hosted the exhibition Habitar Barcelona 2075, an initiative by students and teachers from the ETSAB.
The event also enjoyed success on social media, with the Instagram account @bcn_arquitectura close to exceeding 13,000 followers.
Capital role to come
Organised by the City Council through the Fundació Mies van de Rohe, this edition of Architecture Weeks was the prelude to Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture, which is set to offer a cross-cutting and decentralised programme over ten months. The goal is to promote architecture in an educational way, all around Catalonia, and highlight its influence in quality of life, social cohesion and urban sustainability.
