Analysis and co-creation workshops to empower young people to participate in the ecosocial transformation of their city

Based on a need already expressed by residents of the Sant Andreu neighborhood to make the neighborhood more livable-particularly during the summer-this project involves the young people who use the space daily (students from Institut Escola Vapor i Molí) in identifying this need and developing possible solutions.

We will conduct three workshops with 10th-grade students (equivalent to 4th grade of ESO) as follows:

Use analysis. The focus is less on the formal reading of the city and more on what happens there in terms of everyday life. This session will be supported by Umbrology, a collective of anthropologists and geographers who center urban analysis around shadow and its impact on social dynamics.

Habitability mapping. This session aims to understand and highlight what makes some of the previously observed spaces more intensively and diversely used than others. It will be carried out with the support of the citizen science cooperative Nusos, including data collection such as temperature and humidity.

Collective strategy building. Based on the insights gathered in previous sessions, a co-creation workshop will be held to develop improvement proposals that strengthen the community’s demand for more shaded areas.
