Symposium on Joyful and Creative Frugality
This seminar will bring together professionals and experts involved in this approach—architects, designers, academics, manufacturers, economists, sociologists, and more—to identify best practices within this ecosystem and lay the foundation for future cross-border collaborations with a Mediterranean perspective.
Frugal architecture is a building and living approach that embraces a responsible attitude toward the environment. It focuses on ecological, low-energy, and environmentally-friendly design, prioritizing the renovation of existing structures over new construction. Its goal is to create energy-neutral, or even energy-positive, buildings under the guiding principle that "less is enough."
Frugality in architecture is rooted in the conscious use of natural resources, simplicity, and sustainability, with an inspiring principle: "the future is ancestral." It is structured around four key axes: responsible land use, energy conservation, the selection of biologically and geologically sourced materials, and the recovery of traditional knowledge, integrated with new, more efficient design and construction methods.
