In the middle of June

Description

Turó de la Peira is an urban area round the hill (turó) of the same name, which is crowned by a park that dates from 1936 and is the oldest in the area. The neighbourhood was built at the beginning of the 1960s, following a typical urban development plan of that Franco period of speculation. In other words, poor quality housing and a lack of services. However, in recent decades a series of redevelopment plans have been carried out to equip it with the necessary urban services and facilities.

In the middle of June, days before the Sant Joan midsummer celebrations, the Turó de la Peira neighbourhood dons its festival clothes and organises an activities' programme that caters for everyone. Over the course of a busy long weekend, there are communal meals, sports events, concerts, dances, children's entertainment, outdoor cinema and a havanera concert.
