Pastorets de l'Orfeó Martinenc

The theatre group Cloteatre perform the Pastorets (Shepherds) every year at the Orfeó Martinenc. They combine the Josep Maria Folch i Torres version with another by Josep Miralles i Josep Prat, which includes a lot of songs. The group, who are all amateurs, stage their production, Jesús és nat (Jesus is Born) with the help of more than 70 people, including actors and technical staff.

Cloteatre, one of the few Catalan companies to keep a theatre and a zarzuela season going at the same time, is the theatre section of the Orfeó Martinenc. This socio-cultural association was set up in the Sant Martí district in 1910, as the Escola Coral Martinenca, and from the start they devoted themselves to promoting, encouraging and spreading both culture and the association movement in the El Clot neighbourhood.

Performances are held in the association's theatre-hall, which has facilities for the activities organised by its various sections: philately, music, popular festivals with gegants (giants), diables (devils) and the esbart dance group, as well as theatre and choral singing.
