Presentation
Art cannot remain untouched or live separate from the society in which it exists. This belief has led me to design the programming of my first Grec not around a single guiding theme but as an opportunity to analyse contemporary society through the varied perspectives of artists and creators across all fields. It is their critical and poetic vision of the world that we place at the service of the audience.
For the 2025 edition, together with the whole team (many thanks to all), we have focused on reinforcing the festival’s web of alliances, whether artistic, institutional, or social, with the goal of making the Grec more a part of Barcelona, and Barcelona more a part of the Grec. As a result, we will be able to enjoy co-productions with international festivals, performances in unique spaces, and shows that stem from the understanding between institutions and creative hubs.
We will host big names who have not appeared in Barcelona in a while, along with fresh young talents visiting for the first time, and also shows that have been born and developed in our city. The diversity of artistic languages is a priority in programming a festival like the Grec, always with the highest standards of quality without losing sight of a contemporary perspective. We will reflect critically on the contemporary world, conduct a precise analysis of reality through the classics, embark on internal and external journeys that will help us better understand our existence, and approach beauty, conflict, fears, and struggles from a variety of perspectives.
This year, the faun of the Grec invites us to dream with eyes wide open, connect with stories, and experience the performing arts across the entire city. Our goal is for the festival to become a space for connection, a cultural gathering where we can experience special moments and an opportunity to make the most of the summer nights. Come and dream with us!
