Expositions

Fam i guerra a Catalunya

The exhibition presents several everyday items, hailing from individual collections, documents and photographs that show visitors the life of daily hunger during the civil war and post-war period in Spain. The field work conducted for the exhibition also provides a documentary featuring testimonies from individuals recalling their survival strategies for food shortages and the difficulties experienced by a large part of the population in obtaining food.

Entarota’t

This exhibition from the Tradicionàrius Crafts Centre focuses on the oboe family of reed instruments from the Països Catalans [Catalan-speaking territories], such as the tarota, gralla, dolçaina, tenora, tible), and takes a close look at the diversity of traditional oboes found in the Iberian Peninsula, the Mediterranean basin, Europe and other places in the world. An exhibition that confirms how traditional oboes, like most instruments, know no boundaries.

Calendari dels Pagesos

This exhibition from the Ethnology Museum features 11 panels explaining the history and features of the calendar. It is rounded off by a selection of ethnographic items from rural life that the museum conserves. Three series of the exhibition are touring Catalonia at the same time, as a result of receiving numerous requests from various towns and villages in the country. Produced by the Barcelona Ethnology Museum and the Tomàs SCP Publishing House, the exhibition is touring several locations in the country, to mark the 150th anniversary of the first edition of the Calendari dels Pagesos [Farmers' Calendar].
