The 15 nativity scenes in Barcelona not to be missed!

There are all sorts of nativity scenes and they are in every city district. There are traditional ones and modern ones made from a range of materials, including one made of playmobil and even one in the water! The scenes are all made by the ateneus cultural centres, different groups, festival groups and associations in their centres, parish churches and public buildings. We invite you to visit them all. It’s really worth it!

El Casalet del Turó Cultural Association. (El Guinardó) Nativity scene visible from the street. Dates: 14 December to 2 February. 10 am to 10 pm (can be seen from the street) Address: Passeig de la Peira, 30

Casa dels Entremesos. (Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera) Popular, humorous nativity scene. Dates: 28 November to 2 February Times: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 1 pm and 4pm to 7pm. Sundays and public holidays, 11 am to 2 pm. Closed Mondays. Address:La Casa dels Entremesos (Plaça de les Beates, 2) Organised by: Ciutat Vella Nativity-Scene Makers Association

Cathedral (Gothic neighbourhood) The most traditional nativity scene. Dates: 30 November to 6 January. Times: Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 5.45 pm to 7.30 pm. Saturday festival eves, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 5.45 pm to 7.45 pm. Sundays and public holidays, 9.30 am to 1 pm and from 5.15 to 7.45 pm. Address: Cathedral Cloister (entrance on Carrer del Bisbe).

Can Galta – Sant Andreu Municipal Centre for Popular Culture Nativity scene in a Casa de la Festa cultural centre. (Sant Andreu de Palomar) Dates: 13 December to 2 February. Times: Monday to Friday, 4 pm to 9 pm. Address: Carrer d’Arquímedes, 30.

Festa Major de Gràcia Foundation (La Vila de Gràcia) Dates: 9 December to 2 February. Times: Monday to Thursday, 5 pm to 9 pm. Friday 10 am to 1.30 pm. Address: Carrer de l’Alzina, 9.

Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures. (Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera) Nativity scene with life-size figures in the Museum’s courtyard Dates: 10 December to 7 January. Times: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm. Sundays and public holidays, 10 am to 8 pm. Closed on Mondays. Address: Carrer de Montcada, 12.

Frederic Marès Museum. (Gothic neighbourhood) Dates: 29 November to 2 February Times: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm. Sunday, 11 am to 8 pm. Closed Mondays. From 24 December to 6 January the closing time will be 9 pm. On 25 December and 1 January the Museum will be closed. Orfeó Martinenc (El Clot) Playmobil nativity scene. Dates: 23 December to 12 January. Times: Monday to Friday, 1 pm to 8 pm. Address: Avinguda Meridiana, 97.

Mare de Déu de Betlem Parish Church. (El Raval) Dioramas made by the Barcelona Association of Nativity Scene Builders. Dates: 22 November to 28 January. Times: Monday to Sunday, 11 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm. From Twelfth Night (6 January) only open on Sunday in January, 11 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm. Address: La Rambla, 107. Sant Ramon de Penyafort Parish Church. (La Dreta de l’Eixample) Classic nativity scene on a table top. Dates: 8 December to 2 February. Times: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 8 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays 11 am to 9 pm. Address: Rambla de Catalunya, 115.
