Alejandro Hurtado / Norberto Torres
Desvarío Flamenco 25 Nou Barris. Opening event
This is the first guitar concert and lecture in the “De Miguel Llobet a Ramón Montoya” [From Miguel Llobet to Ramón Montoya] series of two performances at the Museum of Music that will kick off the festival organised by the El Dorado association in Nou Barris.
The Desvarío Flamenco series, organised by a well-known flamenco association in the city, is back at the Grec Festival, starting with two opening events at the Museum of Music. Titled De Llobet a Montoya [From Llobet to Montoya], it focuses on the importance of Barcelona in the development of classical flamenco guitar. El Dorado has long explored this subject, closely following the ongoing research into Miguel Llobet’s influence on the work of Ramón Montoya, particularly during the early 20th century.
After the first lecture and performance, there will be a second opening for Desvarío at the Museum of Music. On this occasion, Norberto Torres Cortés, a musical researcher and writer born in Lyon in 1960 and one of the leading experts in flamenco guitar, will discuss Recepción e influencia de Barcelona y de su Modernidad en el toque flamenco [Reception and Influence of Barcelona and its Modernity on Flamenco Guitar Playing].
Following the lecture, there will be a guitar performance by Alejandro Hurtado. Born in San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante, in 1994,. Hurtado has a strong musical background, having studied classical guitar at the Professional Conservatory of Music and Dance in Alicante while also learning flamenco guitar and modern harmony. He graduated from the Higher Conservatory of Córdoba with honours, and only a few months later, he won the Bordón Minero Award at the 2017 International Cante de las Minas Festival in La Unión. He has accompanied Mayte Martín and many other cantaores [flamenco singers] such as Miguel Poveda, but is particularly renowned for his solo guitar work. He is also the author of Maestros del Arte Clásico Flamenco [Masters of Classical Flamenco Art], a tribute to two flamenco guitar legends: Ramón Montoya and Manolo de Huelva, produced with the help of Rodrigo de Zayas, who contributed Montoya’s iconic guitar.
Desvarío replaced the Flamenco Festival in Nou Barris, which was founded in 2000 and ran for 17 years. El Dorado SFB has now taken over directing and managing the new festival in collaboration with the Nou Barris District’s Technical Services. El Dorado SFB is a cultural association set up in 2007 with the aim of creating a permanent space to promote and spread flamenco culture in Barcelona by viewing flamenco as a modern folk art.
Co-produced by Nou Barris District and El Dorado, Sociedad Flamenca Barcelonesa.
Supported by the Barcelona Grec Festival 2025.
In collaboration with the Barcelona Museum of Music.
