Història de l'amor
Agrupación Señor Serrano
How is love born? When is love born? Why are we constantly searching for it? This veteran performing arts group made up of tireless innovators is returning to the festival, this time to talk about love.
A performance artist approaches the table, adjusts the camera and zooms in on a statuette wearing an expression of pure desire. Right from the start, you’ll be able to identify the hallmarks of the Agrupación Señor Serrano company, experts in telling stories through words, images and objects. This time, they explore a topic we all care about. As the protagonist shares her love story, a parallel story unfolds in the form of a documentary about the history of love. Is the performance artist’s story really her story? Could it perhaps be yours? Is there such a thing as a single love story? A single history of love? Live images, alongside images from the world of cinema, fill the screen.
Agrupación Señor Serrano presents this exploration as a journey through history, in a show that looks sideways at the myth of El Dorado: the promise of a hidden city in the middle of the jungle, home to countless treasures and the fountain of fulfilment. The promise of love has been rewritten and transformed over time, but it continues be one of the driving forces of our existence. Why do we seek love? What do we expect from it? Is it a place, a milestone, a journey?
These are some of the questions this company asks as it wonders if, at this point, taking a chance on love is still worth it.
Història de l’amor is the latest creation by an internationally acclaimed company whose unique approach we’ve seen at the Grec Festival in shows such as Brickman Brando Bubble Boom (2013), A House in Asia (2014), Birdie (2016), Kingdom (2018), The Mountain (2020), Olympus Kids (2022) and Una illa [An Island] (2023).
