La Gualtero
Complete Revolution
Following recent projects featuring endless repetitions of connected beginnings and endings, Raquel Gualtero is culminating her exploration of rotation with a new movement-based performance that will premiere at the Barcelona Grec Festival.
Everything begins and ends at the same point, but between the start and the end of this rotating movement lies a vast, planetary journey. La Gualtero, a Barcelona-based artist of Colombian origin, transforms rotation into a symbol of human expression. By applying it to herself, she connects with her own roots. This perpetually spinning woman starts and ends at a single point, yet along the way, she encompasses the entire universe. In this choreography, contemporary dance engages in dialogue with immersive technology to create a visual, auditory, and contemplative experience.
Raquel Gualtero is a dancer and choreographer born in Barcelona and trained in Amsterdam. She has performed across Europe, and upon returning to Barcelona, she has collaborated with some of the leading figures in local dance and theatre, including Àngels Margarit, Pere Faura, Àlex Rigola, and Janet Novás. In 2016, she presented tBrut [Dirty], a choreography starring silence; in 2023, she presented Panorama at the Mercat de les Flors, and 2024 saw the start of her 360º project, which will culminates in this piece at the Grec Festival.
