Barcelona i els seus misteris (originally written and published in Spanish) is the renowned bestselling work of the prolific writer, politician, journalist, playwright and adventurer, Antonio Altadill i Teixidó (Tortosa, 1828 - Barcelona, 1880). This work, written in 1860, and translated for the first time into Catalan, was a best seller in its time, a success which would last till the beginning of the 20th century, when it was adapted for the silver screen. This version of the novel includes notes at the end of each section which enable the reader to place the events that are described in their context.

Xavi Casinos

Journalist and writer whose career has been strongly linked to Barcelona for more than forty years. In the 1990s he directed the section “Gran Barcelona” in El Periódico de Catalunya, he is currently a columnist for La Vanguardia and has been the author of the Sunday section “Barcelona secreta” with the same newspaper since 2014. He has also collaborated with other media, bringing his vision of the Catalan capital and metropolitan future. He has published seventeen books, including five volumes with articles from the series Barcelona secreta and the novel Tren de venganza (Roca Editorial, 2010), set during the construction of the first railway between Barcelona and Mataró, in the middle of the 19th century.
