Plaça de Sant Gaietà

Pl Sant Gaietà, 5

If it were not for the total lack of barriers to prevent access, you would think that this was a private patio. It is very small, paved with red tiles and surrounded by flowers.

El raconet

Known as “el raconet” (the little corner), Plaça de Sant Gaietà is a romantic spot and there are few places in Barcelona that are more hidden away. It is surrounded by 10 small houses, and to get there, you have to go down Carrer de la Dalmasia, a really narrow alley which isn’t easy to find. It is a small urban oasis with pots full of plants and flowers, which are looked after by local residents. The square’s star feature is the beautiful Bougainvillea, an ornamental vine, which grows in one of its corners.

An exceptional place

It is a really peaceful place, although there is nowhere to sit down. If you are in the neighbourhood, a visit to this square is a must: visitors realise how lucky the people living in the surrounding houses are.
