Public transport on 11 September 2023 (Catalan National Day)

Due to the events being held to celebrate Catalonia’s national day on 11 September, there will be various disruptions to public transport.

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) recommends using the metro for journeys to the city centre, as there will be traffic restrictions. People are also advised to allow more time to make journeys.

If large build-ups of people occur, instructions given by staff should be followed at all times, as they will be in contact with public safety authorities.

Metro

Some metro stations may be affected by the high number of users. The most affected are expected to be the following: Espanya (L1/L3), Urquinaona (L1/L4), Arc de Triomf (L1), Hostafrancs (L1), Rocafort (L1), Urgell (L1), Tarragona (L3), Sants Estació (L3/L5) and Ciutat de la Justícia (L10S).

Bus

In the morning, several lines will likely be diverted or will circulate with limitations due to the floral offerings at the monument of Rafael Casanova. The following lines are likely to be affected: D50, H16, 19 and Barcelona Bus Turístic.

In the afternoon, from about 3.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m., there will be possible impacts due to the demonstration, which will be divided into four columns. These will pass along Plaça dels Països Catalans, Carrer de Tarragona, Plaça d'Espanya, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes (next to the Ciutat de la Justícia), Plaça del Doctor Letamendi and Carrer de Muntaner. The following lines are likely to be affected: D20, D40, H10, H12, H16, V3, V5, V7, V9, V11, V13, 13, 27, 46, 54, 59, 63, 65, 78, 79, 109, 115, 141, 150 and Barcelona Bus Turístic  (Ruta Vermella).

As for the Catalan Government Railways, the Barcelona-Vallès line and the Llobregat-Anoia line have increased their number of trains and capacity.
