Observations: The carob trees and other plants native to the estate, which have a typical Mediterranean appearance, were carefully conserved by Gaudí during the construction works of Parc Güell, from 1900 to 1903. The park is an example of the merging of plants and architecture to create a unique landscape. The old carob tree, which has taken root – and has been conserved – under the columns of the viaducts, with its trunk which has twisted in order to reach the light, is the living image of the Gaudí concept.
