The best open-air cinema celebrates its 21st anniversary. The Montjuïc Castle is once again the city’s coolest cinema, with four nights of music and the latest audiovisual productions as part of the Barcelona Grec Festival.

8:45 pm: Concert by The Swing Cats (swing)

They are considered one of the most versatile vocal groups to emerge in recent times. Their performances evoke the great jazz voices of the 1930s and 1940s, from Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald to Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and even Chet Baker.

10 pm: Screening of The Holdovers (USA, 2023; original version with Spanish subtitles), by Alexander Payne

Paul Hunham, a cantankerous teacher at a prestigious American boarding school, is forced to stay on campus during the Christmas break to chaperone a handful of students who have nowhere else to go. Against all odds, the experience will lead him to form an unlikely bond with a bright and troubled student. Starring Paul Giamatti, this is an unforgettable film, as intelligent, sharp and funny as it is sad and tender.
