La luz de un lago

El Conde de Torrefiel

Teatre Lliure Montjuïc - Espai Lliure   19/07 - 22/07

Transcending the plastic and visual spheres, this production uses sound tools to explore the possibilities of theatrical and poetic imagery.

Sound has always played a role in the stage creations of the company founded by Tanya Beyeler and Pablo Gisbert, but never as the starring feature as in A limitless place. They have come here in search of new ways of telling stories that avoid the same old patterns and allow us to understand, or at least intuit, the complexity of the world around us. They do this by appealing to the imagination and presenting on stage intuited images, revelations or apparitions, visual metaphors that are understood through the sum of sound, text, light, the bodies of the performers and matter, which in this case takes the form of mud and metal. What can one expect from a proposal that shuns the sense of sight in order to concentrate on hearing? It is said that the overproduction of images inhibits our ability to imagine them for ourselves and that, on the contrary, it is precisely in the absence of images that the brain’s capacity to create them is activated.

So tune your ears to El Conde de Torrefiel’s latest creation, banish your visual impulses and turn your brain into a non-stop image-projecting cinema. This is the proposal of a company that, with the ten shows it has created since 2010 (from La plaza [The square] at Grec 2018 to Una imagen interior [An inner picture], one of the star shows at Grec 2022), has attracted the attention of audiences, critics, programmers and European festivals with productions that speak of time and 21st century society, combining and treating text, movement, plastic images and sound separately.
