The Carlos Pérez de Rozas Municipal Baseball Ground has new artificial turf, along with a new water collection and watering system. The ground is set to get its first use in style, with the 23rd Women’s European Softball Championship, as a support ground for the softball pitch, also recently renewed.

The old natural turf and the planimetrics made maintenance difficult at the ground, meaning its renewal was regarded as a priority for ensuring the optimum state of the pitch and its capacity to host major national and international competitions. The total investment from the Barcelona Institute of Sports was 572,000 euros.

The work included the dismantling of the existing watering system and the installation of a new one, the installation of a perimetral gutter to collect rainwater, compacting and levelling of the pitch, the installation of latest generation artificial turf, the creation of mounds for the home and base points, and finally, line markings and the assembly of the necessary sports equipment. The final steps involved testing and certifying the pitch before re-opening it for sports use.
