The tourism sector explores new links with local social action
On Tuesday 21 October, the Teatre Lliure restaurant, managed by Fundació Mescladís, hosted a new edition of the Sants-Montjuïc Tourism Work Group, focussing on the role that tourism can play in promoting social action in the local area.
The event, under the slogan Discover the social action projects of Sants-Montjuïc! brought together representatives of hotels in the district with a variety of social institutions to explore collaborations that help tourism to offer a more positive return to the local community. The main objective was to raise awareness of active social initiatives in the district and open up avenues of cooperation between the hotel sector and entities.
The event looked at several collaboration options, such as:
- Corporate volunteering
- Internships and job placements
- Cession of space
- Raising awareness of social activities
- Arrangement of services offered by entities
- Contribution to the legalisation of people with irregular administrative situations
- Participation in proposals to improve employability such as training visits to hotels
- Financial or material donations (food, non-perishable products, etc.)
The entities that shared information about their projects were: Fundació Canpedró, Fundació Iniciatives Solidàries, Associació Cívica La Nau, Fundació Avismón, Fundació Gentis, Parròquia del Sant Àngel Custodi, associació educativa Xera, associació Gra de Blat, Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials, Fundació Mescladís, Bona Voluntat en Acció.
The day concluded with a discussion between participants to identify synergies and possible joint actions, followed by an aperitif courtesy of Mescladís, prepared by the vocational integration programme, Cuinant Oportunitats.
