Choral Concert. Catalan Federation of Choral Entities, Vivace Choir of Barcelona, and Vozes Choir of Barcelona

The popular La Mercè has two moments especially dedicated to the human voice as a musical vehicle. One of them is the concert of the Clavé Choirs Federation

and the other, this engagement with the Catalan Federation of Choral Entities (FCEC). It comprises 450 choral groups from across the country, collaborating since 1982 when this body was established. Its mission is to seek the continual artistic improvement of its members and to advocate for the role of choral singing in Catalan cultural life.

This year, the now traditional Choral Concert will feature the Vivace Choir and the VOZES Choir as its main acts The former boasts around eighty singers and primarily situates its repertoire within the realms of pop and modern music, aiming to introduce the choral world to new rhythms and styles. As for VOZES, it is an artistic and musical project aimed at social integration. Its singers will perform 10 songs from 10 countries, with tunes such as Balaio (Brazil), L’hereu Riera (Catalonia), and the renowned Dancing Queen by ABBA.

The FCEC recognises choral singing as a cultural asset; it guides, coordinates, and advises on singing in Catalonia, promotes collective choral life, and supports the establishment of new groups.
