Around 1922, one hundred years ago, Frederic Marès sculpted Woman's torso or Marble . This sculpture of classical reminiscences is part of the Museum's collection and is on display in Frederic Marès' Studio-library. The piece serves us as a pretext to reflect the most productive stage of Marès' freely created works and how these burst into the art market, through participation in the main exhibition halls of Barcelona and Madrid, before the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).
The artistic recognition of his work placed Marès as one of the most respected sculptors of the moment, opening the doors to major public sculpture projects.
