The more than a thousand objects presented by the Sala de la Fe belong to the Catholic religion, however Frederic Marès wanted to book a small space dedicated to objects linked to the Jewish religion. The sacred scrolls and pointers stand out, finished in one hand ( yad ) and the pointing index finger.
The pointers are used to guide oneself during the reading of the Torah in the synagogue, in order not to impure it and to avoid wear and tear of the writing. They are made of silver, ivory and bone, richly decorated, and some contain a container for fragrant herbs. Some carry at the other end a container for perfumes ( we kiss ), spherical or temple-shaped. The presence of inscriptions praising the deity is common.
