Conservation-restoration process of the Iberian votive collection
During the year 2009, coinciding with the preparation of the catalog of the collections of the ancient world, the conservation process of the collection of 230 Iberian bronze votives began, which constitutes a set of great interest due to the number and diversity of typologies they present.
The actions carried out have the double objective of stopping the corrosion and stabilization processes to guarantee future safeguarding, and the recovery of the structure and surface details to deepen their knowledge and cataloguing.
The intervention consisted of the removal of the old supports, mechanical surface cleaning and, in cases where it was insufficient, chemical cleaning. The most degraded pieces have been treated with an innovative technology, the cold plasma of H and Ar (Chemical Institute of Sarrià), as the only valid means to achieve their stabilization.
