Conservation-restoration process of a set of metal parts
During the months of November and December 2023, the conservation-restoration process of a set of metal parts from the permanent collection of the rooms of Collector's cabinet . The intervention has been carried out with the double objective of guaranteeing the good conservation of the works as well as improving their presentation in their public exhibition.
It has intervened in 19 religious plaques and one aguabeneiter of the Hall of Faith , as well as a view of the Women's Room . The plaques, of golden copper and with religious representations, preferably of the 16th to 18th centuries , are part of a set of almost forty pieces located in the same display case. This group had traces of wax, traces of cleaning products and corrosion. The copper water dispenser also showed corrosion and the comb, made of metal and copper, sulphuration.
The conservation-restoration process consisted of removing the surface layers, cleaning (mechanical and chemical), neutralization, drying, inhibition, and, finally, the application of a protective layer.
