The interventions have been carried out with two main objectives: the cleaning of the marble of the sculpture and the plinth and the recovery of the original position of the left leg of the central figure, lost and reconstructed in another position. The recovery is based on archival images of Frederic Marès' workshop, where the sculpture appears with its plinth, and the plaster model of the same sculpture preserved in a private collection.
The process basically consisted of:
• Removal of dirt accumulated on the marble of the sculpture and the plinth.
• Punctual removal of plaster and glue mortars applied to the fracture areas adhered in a previous restoration. And leveling of a new stucco.
• Removal of the leg previously reconstructed in plaster mortar and glue and reconstruction based on 3D digitization, with photogrammetry, of the sculpture and the plaster model preserved in a private collection.
