Let nothing be thrown away or lost as useless
Let nothing be thrown away or lost as useless
The Frederic Marès Museum proposes, under the title Let nothing be thrown away or lost as useless , one itinerary through the rooms of the Collector's Cabinet through several 3D creations inspired by some exhibited objects.
In his memoirs, Frederic Marès tells of a visit to a cafe in Paris where a group of collectors met who were told "Let nothing be thrown away or lost as useless". This phrase has been chosen as the title of the exhibition for the doses of irony, for the confrontation it proposes between utility and uselessness, for the taste for play and for coming together under a common interest. The artists and teachers of the Matéria Impresa research project of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UB have established a dialogue with the Collector's Cabinet with a broad frame of reference and from a great diversity of poetics. This project explores 3D printing technologies from the need for a review of the subject in a mostly virtual context.
Behind the objects there is an accumulation of experiences, and in these morsels of life there are people, there are stories. Through repetition, the emphasis is placed on the singularization of the object, the search for empathetic relationships, the new, reflective and different look; always from our reality and which returns to the time of the object to make it permanent, old as it is and renewed.
