Selection of images and documents from the Museum’s holdings around the Frederic Marès monument dedicated to the politician and labor lawyer, Francesc Layret.
Frederic Marès made the allegorical monument dedicated to Francesc Layret (Barcelona, 1880-1920). The work was commissioned by the Francesc Layret Pro-Monument and Institutions Committee in 1932 and inaugurated on April 19, 1936, in the current Plaça de Goya in Barcelona.
On the occasion of the events commemorating the centenary of the death of Francesc Layret, promoted by Barcelona City Council, the Frederic Marès Museum highlights the figure of the politician and labor lawyer through the 'exhibition in the Showcase of the Patio of the project for the Frederic Marès monument and a selection of images and documents from the Museum's holdings that illustrate the process of creation and public dissemination of the work, (1931-1936) and (1939-1977), through which we can trace the social and political events of the history of Catalonia in the 20th century.
