Bacchus is the roman god of wine, theater and fertility . Equivalent to the Greek Dionysus, it also collects very old traditions and brings together other deities. Able to command fury, passion and frenzy, he represents the most irrational aspects of the human being as opposed to the sense of order and measure embodied by Apollo.

This traveling exhibition, designed and produced by the Museu de Badalona (28/03/2019 - 09/06/2019), includes a  fifty Roman pieces  coming from different museums, one of them the  Frederic Marès Museum , and archaeological sites in Catalonia, which testify to the roots of this divinity in the society of the Roman era and which allow us to discover all the masks of this multifaceted and complex god.

The objects linked to the god Bacchus, which had never before been brought together in the same exhibition, turn the exhibition into a unique opportunity to travel to the mythological culture of our ancestors and to learn about the origins of this god - the last to enter Olympus - with so many faces, heir to various traditions and one of the most popular of the Roman era, thanks to his humble origins and his many adventures.
