The exhibition analyzes the artistic career of Damià Campeny (1771-1855) as an expression of an era and an aesthetic ideology. At the same time, it recognizes the value of Catalan neoclassical sculpture in the international arena , through the analysis of materials, artistic processes, themes and models. The areas of the exhibition respond to these purposes, which illustrate Campeny's relationship with Mataró, his training in Barcelona and Rome, the pension system of art academies, the copying of works of antiquity, the creative process that leads from drawing to marble and the interpretation of the models that inspired his ideal representation of the female figure.
