In 1913, Frederic Marès finished his artistic training at the Llotja school in Barcelona, also strengthened by attending the workshop of the modernist sculptor Eusebi Arnau. Between the autumn of this year and the month of February 1914 he spent a stay in Paris, where he came into direct contact with the work of Rodin and Meunier. The works made by Marès between 1915 and the early 1920s corresponded to an independent and freely created sculpture, as is the case of Three young people which is framed within the Noucentism , which he would later abandon when his work was preferentially confined to institutional commissions of commemorative works and with a smaller margin of creativity. Those first works are the ones that gave him the recognition of artistic critics. Despite this, in the Museum's collection we do not keep many works from this period and it is for this reason that the acquisition of this sculpture is particularly relevant.
