From february to June 2022 we present the VII cycle of concerts, which recovers the classic program of five productions, after two years disrupted by the pandemic. The return to our normality encourages us to continue working and present a cycle of interest where music, works and objects intertwine to offer unique and exciting proposals , arising from the interaction between the Museum and ESMUC. This initiative serves as an incentive for young ESMUC graduates, encouraging the creation of projects ad hoc which they will later incorporate as professional experience.
They are not concerts in use. It is an integrated activity in the Museum rooms. Each selected space becomes a chamber room adapted to the needs of the concert. The programming is eclectic and tackles different styles and genres , for all tastes. The recovery of the rich musical heritage has always been an explicit objective of each cycle. This year we are dedicating two concerts to the work of female composers such as Pauline Viardot-García or the contemporary Elisabet Raspall.
The recent celebration of the bicentenary of the birth of Pauline Viardot-García (1821-1910) has led to more interest in one of the most talented female figures of the 19th century. Multifaceted artist stood out as a pianist, intellectual and pedagogue, and this season we will discover her as a composer in the duet's voice and guitar recital Songs of the Air The artist Elisabet Raspall will close the cycle of concerts in the Museum Courtyard with a contemporary jazz matinee and the presentation of her latest project Links, accompanied by saxophonist Marcel·lí Bayer. The artist's ties with Tete Montoliu, whose death is 25 years old, will resonate as a tribute during the concert.

Women's room
Interpreters : Songs of the Air . Laura Martínez Boj, soprano and Bernardo Rambeaud, romantic guitar.
Works of : Ferran Sor, Federico Moretti, Ferdinando Paër, Manuel García and Pauline Viardot-García.
The Women's Room exhibits a wide variety of objects related to women and 19th century romanticism. Behind each object we keep we could discover a thousand hidden stories that would surprise us. The story by the mezzo-soprano Pauline Viardot-García (1821-1910), despite being unknown, is still extraordinary. Daughter of the tenor Manuel García (1775-1832) and the soprano Joaquina Briones (1780-1854), she was a versatile artist who stood out as a composer, pianist, intellectual and pedagogue. His compositions, mostly chamber operas and songs, give him a privileged place in the musical repertoire of the 19th century. We will hear the famous ones from Ferran Sor (1778-1839). Bowling alleys c the songs of Ferdinando Paër (1771-1839) and Federico Moretti (1769-1839) will complete the program.

Women's room
Interpreter : Roger Illa, table piano.
Works of : Leopold Kozeluch, Daniel Steibelt, Ferran Sor, W. A. Mozart, F. J. Haydn and Carles Baguer.
Barcelona, at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century, was a reflection and witness to the spirit of the Industrial Revolution. As a result of social changes and libertarian airs, workshops and small musical instrument factories were established in the city. The commercial label of the piano brand Bernareggi that we keep in the Museum, that's what he tells us. Of all, the piano and the table piano will be the protagonists and their manufacture will promote a lively trade that the well-to-do classes will take advantage of to promote music both in private rooms and in theaters and churches. According to the press of the time, Barcelona was one of the first cities where opera was performed They all sew by W. A. Mozart at the Teatro de la Santa Creu, the opening of which we will hear during the concert in version piano .
A spiritual concert: Telemann, Marais and Couperin
april 24, 2022, 12:00 p. m
Baroque Room (room 25)
Interpreters : Miguel Bonal, viola de gamba; Nicole Wolfsohn, recorder and Darío Tamayo, harpsichord.
Works of : Marin Marais, George Philipp Telemann and Françoise Couperin.
The Sala del Barroc offers us the closest thing to the musical representation of a chamber concert from the end of the 17th to the middle of the 18th century. The baroque trio formed by the harpsichord, the bow viola and the recorder reminds us of the historical instrumental format while we contemplate baroque sculptures and paintings, among which stands out the Immaculate Conception by Antoine Dupar, made between 1718 and 1728, which observes us from afar with a soft and kind face and prepares us for the concert. A genuine review of the quintessential baroque chamber instrumental repertoire with composers such as Marin Marais (1656-1728), François Couperin (1688 – 1733) and George Philipp Telemann (1681-1767).

This female composition, of noucentist inspiration, has recently been incorporated into the Studio-library of Frederic Marès together with the rest of the artist's works. We celebrate this presentation with a recital for voice and piano that includes composers such as Eduard Toldrà (1895-1962) - contemporary of Marès in this first artistic stage - and spokesperson for poets such as Tomàs Garcés, Joan Maragall or Josep Carner. We will listen The fight of the dream by Frederic Mompou (1893-1987) in the Studio-library of Frederic Marès, a way to remember the friendship between the two artists and highlight Mompou's scores that the Museum keeps.
