The Worship of Kings (2017)
The Worship of Kings (2017)
Free itinerary for the Museum's permanent exhibition Sculpture from 8 sculptures depicting the scene of the Adoration of the Kings.
The scene of the Adoration of the Kings, also known as Epiphany, which belongs to the cycle of Jesus' childhood, is explained in the Gospel of Saint Matthew and in several apocryphal Gospels. The differences between these texts, as well as between other later narratives such as the Golden Legend, have meant that the scene has been represented in various ways over the centuries. Among the most significant differences are the age of the Child Jesus at the time of Adoration, the number of Kings, his clothing and his ethnic characterization.
