La calidesa
Marta Barceló
Teatre Lliure Montjuïc - Espai Lliure 09/07 - 11/07
There are as many ways to bring a story to the stage as the imagination of the person doing so. And some of them don't actually need a stage but can easily unfold... inside a box. Put on the earphones you’ll be given and listen to the story by Marta Barceló, read by an actor or actress. Look carefully at the box: the sand from a tropical beach which is spread on the floor of a room, the cabin or a lorry at midnight, the friendly cashier of a supermarket, the screen of an app to share friendship, the X-ray of a left hand, objects from an entire lifetime shared by two friends... They are all stories of solitude which use audiovisual resources to talk about such everyday matters as migration, the ageing of the population, international mobility, consumer society, men and women turning into commodities... But perhaps the presence and company of someone can change everything and fill that box filled with loneliness with warmth instead. The team that created these six stories which they’ll tell only you (or you and a partner) in an atmosphere of utter intimacy convey a call to care for others, a reminder of the need to value and strengthen friendship, companionship and our own life companions.
It is a show by Coma14, the performance creation project led by the Mallorcan director Tolo Ferrà, and the actress and creator Vera González’s La Société de la Mouffette. They both bring to the stage texts by Marta Barceló, a graduate in Dramatic Art from the Barcelona Institute of Theatre who is also trained as a circus artist but has ended up writing scripts for TV series, theatre and children’s novels. She is the author of works like Tocar mare and Zona inundable, which was a candidate for the 2023 Max Awards.
