Pep Moliner & Cia. Musicalmente

You may have seen the Musicalmente company perform at the Palau, where they have presented their own projects several times. Now, however, it is presenting a show of Catalan folk music with traditional roots under the direction of the Palau de la Música Catalana’s Education Service. It is a participatory activity close to the stage, in which the audience will discover the velvety sound of the flugelhorn, an emblematic instrument in the Catalan musical tradition, played in this show by Pep Moliner. Moliner is an instrumentalist who plays the flugelhorn, trombone and tuba, as well as being a professor of flugelhorn at the ESMUC and a flugelhorn player in the Cobla Sant Jordi. In this Palau show, you’ll see him playing the trombone and the flugelhorn. The show that will première at the Palau is the result of an artistic residency that Moliner undertook in Portugal last January, which will end with the première of this show at the Palau de la Música Catalana.

The Portuguese company Musicalmente, founded and directed by the professor and musicologist Paulo Lameiro, has become one of the most important European touchstones of live art for very young children, with concerts for children up to the age of three that are based on classical references but also venture into the realms of jazz, folk and even electronic music. With the utmost respect for their audiences, these artists have placed young children at the heart of their musical activities, as well as the parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles who accompany them. The company was founded in 1998 and their shows for young audiences have toured major theatres and festivals (from Madrid to Macao). They last performed at the Palau de la Música in 2021.
