Sílvia Pérez Cruz

Alone or with other musicians, such as the double bass player Javier Colina, 20th-century music legends like Toquinho, top-notch jazz pianists such as Marco Mezquida and the most up-to-the-minute musicians and producers like Raül Refree... Sílvia Pérez Cruz appeared at the Grec Festival de Barcelona eight times between 2008 and 2023, and most of those times her talent was accompanied by other great artists, like last year, when she shared the Teatre Grec stage with Liliana Herrero and Maria Gadú. In 2023, she also released an album, Toda la vida, un día, in which life cycles intertwine in a circular fashion. Many of the songs were born out of the loneliness that came with the pandemic, but in the end they were recorded in the company of almost 90 other ‘lonely people’: the musicians who took part in the project. Sílvia Pérez Cruz is now on tour, revisiting artistic collaborations with some of her musician friends scattered around the world, who accompany her on each stop. She will be giving a special concert in Barcelona with an array of world-class voices, including Damien Rice, Carmen Linares, Salvador Sobral, Rita Payés, Nico Roig, Carme Canela, Judit Neddermann, Juan Quintero, Carles Dénia and Celeste Alías. The list of special guest artists who will perform with her at the Teatre Grec also includes the Mexican singer and composer Natalia Lafourcade, the bailaora Rocío Molina and the brilliant veteran flamenco guitarist, Pepe Habichuela.

All these musicians, who either lend their voices to a deluxe line-up or accompany the singer on stage, are part of her artistic world, as are the many creators of different arts who have come into contact with her from other regions. Some of these artists, from the dancer Andrés Corchero to director Carlos Marquerie and other younger and less famous names (for the time being, at least), have their own concerts or shows on the festival’s programme and are bringing the universe of Sílvia Pérez Cruz as an artist with special ties to the Grec 2024 under the name of Circular to the city’s venues.
