Bus on demand

El Meu Bus [My Bus] is Barcelona's bus on demand service. This service seeks to make it easier for the city's residents to move around certain neighbourhoods, taking into account their specific needs and the times at which they travel.

El Meu Bus began as a pilot test in Torre Baró in 2019 as part of the Pla de Barris [Neighbourhood Plan]. Given the success of the pilot test, which saw more than 850 users sign up to the service, the Barcelona City Council and TMB have highlighted the improvements that would result from the bus on demand service being introduced to areas in which there is a lower demand for bus services.

  • A personalised service: the user decides when and where they want to travel.
  • A quicker journey: the bus only stops at requested stops.
  • A more efficient service: the bus doesn’t run when there isn’t demand.
  • Less waiting time at the bus stops.

This service is currently available in Torre Baró, in Vallbona, and in the Montbau, Vall d’Hebron, Farró and Galvany neighbourhoods.

It is expected to extend to more areas in the city over the coming years, thereby grouping together several neighbourhood bus lines to improve their service.

The service

To use this service, you need to indicate the time at which you want to board the bus, the stop at which you will get on and the stop at which you will get off, in advance. It uses the same integrated tariff system as the rest of the city’s public transport services, and runs from 7 am to 9 pm from Monday to Saturday and from 9 am to 9 pm on Sundays and public holidays.

You can request the service via the free ElMeuBus mobile application or by ringing the freephone number (+34) 900 927 575, indicating the time at which you want to board the bus and the stops at which you will get on and off. You can request the service at any time, but the earlier you do it, the better we can process your request.

You can also request a regular service (e.g. every Monday, every working day, every morning at a certain time, etc.) if required.

You need to be at the bus stop five minutes before the requested pick-up time. When you board the bus, you need to validate your transport card or pay for the journey using the TMB App. The service uses the same integrated tariff system as all other public transport services in Barcelona.

The bus cannot make any journey that has not been requested in advance. However, you can board a bus that you haven't requested in advance if it pulls to a stop at the stop you are waiting at, as long as their are seats available on the scheduled route and that your destination does not entail a deviation from said route.

You can only get off at a stop that you haven't requested if this is located on the scheduled route, and by asking the driver in advance.
