September is around the corner, bringing the European Mobility Week and the La Mercè festivities. This year the two festivals are taking place at around the same time, so joint activities are once more on offer. Car Free Day is being held on 22 September, taking over Via Laietana to showcase healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

Barcelona is taking part in European Mobility Week, which is on from 16 to 22 September, offering a programme of activities organised by the City Council in collaboration with different organisations and associations. The aim is to improve air quality, reclaim public areas and promote safe mobility in the city.

Sustainable mobility has become the cornerstone of demands to improve the quality of life in Barcelona, such as traffic-calming in public areas.

During European Mobility Week, efforts will be made to show how a greener, more peaceful, friendlier, safer and less polluted city would benefit all city residents.
