Sculpture Collection
The ground floor exhibits ancient and medieval sculpture up to the 14th century, where the Romanesque relief The appearance of Jesus to his disciples at sea, attributed to the Master of Cabestany and from the Benedictine monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, stands out.
The first floor gathers sculpture from the 15th to the 19th century, where Renaissance and Castilian Baroque sculpture is well represented with examples from most of the Spanish sculptural schools. On the underground floor (room 12) most of the stone sculpture from the Museum's background is concentrated.
The sculpture shares the space with other artistic collections which, although they are in a much lower proportion than the sculpture, are still remarkable. We are referring to goldsmithing, furniture, fabrics and, above all, painting, of which the medieval tables stand out.
The iconographic richness of the collection and the diversity of materials and typologies are other inherent and complementary aspects of the historical vision that, through well-known or anonymous artistic personalities, illustrate and introduce the visitor to this unique collection into the world of Hispanic sculpture.
