Nolina

Avinguda d'Esplugues, 119

Observations:
This is a North American species, native to California and common in arid, semi-desert areas. Its biological adaptation is apparent in the morphology of the plant: flat thin leaves with sharp margins, with a hard cuticle and hard furrowed bark. These are very rare in the Mediterranean area, and even less in such a large size. The shape of this plant, even during its most spectacular moment of bloom, fits in perfectly to the architecture of the entrance to the Monastery and the silhouette of the church and bell tower.
