Observations:
Although this specimen is similar to avenue lining trees, the London plane situated at the threshold of the Universitat de Barcelona is visibly different due to the bark on its trunk and at the base of its branches, which is much darker, regularly furrowed, single coloured and not exfoliating. During the blooming period it presents different leaves and fruits to those of the same species grown in the rest of Europe. Researchers will have to reach a decision on the phenomenon and the possibility of spontaneous genetic or hybrid transmission having taken place.
