Unirun, the university race, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this Saturday

Unirun, a popular athletic race that pits 12 Catalan universities against each other, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The event will be this Saturday 3 March at 9:30 am at the Gran Esplanada in Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum.

Unirun, a popular athletic race that pits 12 Catalan universities against each other, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The event will be this Saturday 3 March at 9:30 am at the Gran Esplanada in Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum.

A 5K route around the city

The Unirun race is still a 5K, but this eyar it features a new route that will run along the coastline in Barcelona’s Sant Martí District and will end in the homestretch of the Parc dels Auditoris.

A solidarity event

Just as in previous editions, Unirun is being held for charitable purposes. The one-euro donation to register will be earmarked to Djouma, a non-profit association that works to guarantee the right to health in Mali.

Martina Terré, host of the tenth UNIRUN

The host of this special edition is the water polo player Martina Terré, the global runner-up at Fukuoka 2023, champion of Europe at Split 2022 and currently a player on CN Sant Andreu and the Spanish national team.

The 5,000 registration spots available for the tenth edition of Unirun were filled five weeks before the race, proof of the keen interest in this event. Gender parity is another of the most noteworthy features of this race, with 50% women and 50% men participating. Plus, 72.58% of the people registered are under the age of 25.
